The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP) is seeking expressions of interest for positions on the Bellarine Bayside Foreshore Committee of Management, Barwon Coast Committee of Management and the Otway Coast Committee of Management.
These positions provide an exciting opportunity for suitably qualified and experienced persons to contribute and provide advice on the delivery of coastal management to the Victorian community, including reserves at Portarlington, St Leonards and Indented Head, Barwon Heads/Ocean Grove and along the Great Ocean Road from Marengo to Separation Creek.
Expressions of interest are being sought for positions on the following committees:
- Otway Coast Committee manages 28 kilometres of coastline adjoining Otway Ranges townships including Apollo Bay and Wye River.
- Barwon Coast Committee manages 13 kilometres of coastline between Ocean Grove and Thirteenth Beach.
- Bellarine Bayside Foreshore Committee manages 17 kilometres of coastline between St Leonards and Portarlington.
DELWP Barwon South West Regional Director , Helen Vaughan said: “We welcome new member interest in Committees of Management and the greater the diversity and representation of the local community on these committees, the better.
“I would encourage anyone with a connection to the local community and a passion for the environment to nominate for one of these positions.”
“Coastal Committees of Management make outstanding contributions to protecting and enhancing the values of our region’s marine and coastal environment, on behalf of the community,” Ms Vaughan said.
The skills and experience required include environmental/coastal management, public sector governance, marketing and communication, strategic/corporate planning, community engagement, and financial management.
The recruitment process for all committees, which will be consistent with the Victorian Government’s focus on diversity, will be undertaken simultaneously to allow candidates who apply for a position on multiple committees to be recommended and appointed to the committee that requires a specific set of skills.
Applicants are required to register an account on the ‘Get On Board’ website prior to applying online at vacancies.publicboards.vic.gov.au (under ‘Search current vacancies). Expressions of interest close 5pm Sunday 19 March 2017. For more information contact DELWP’s Anglesea office on (03) 5320 2012.
